Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said Alexis McAllister’s knee injury “doesn’t look good”. The midfielder missed the Reds’ win over Sheffield United last week.
He initially continued to play before being taken off after 57 minutes.TyC Sports claimed the 24-year-old required two stitches and that the circumstances of his injury were “a matter of concern for Liverpool”.
On Monday, Argentine underwent “rigorous” tests to determine the extent of the injury. The athlete did not suffer any ligament damage and only suffered a “hard blow” to the knee.
Liverpool play Manchester United later this week and reports in England suggest Mac Allister could be in contention for the Red Devils.
The World Cup winner is likely to miss this game and a few more, with TyC Sports saying there will be a “recovery period of around 15 days”.
This means the South American will miss the Royale Union Saint-Gilloise [Europa League], Manchester United and West Ham United [EFL Cup] matches.
He said his availability for the league games against Arsenal and Burnley was yet to be confirmed. Mac Allister has one goal and two assists in 18 games this season.
