Liverpool predicted starting XI v Newcastle United as Jurgen Klopp makes £133m selection call

Liverpool and Newcastle United are set to meet at Anfield in their first Premier League game since 2024. Jurgen Klopp’s men will be looking to strengthen their position at the top of the table after seeing Arsenal suffer back-to-back defeats to West Ham United and Fulham. The Reds are level on points with Aston Villa but have played fewer games.

Manchester City and Arsenal (both on 40 points) complete the top four. Newcastle, who have had a difficult December, are 11 points off Champions League qualification. Eddie Howe’s men have lost six of their last seven games and were knocked out of the European Cup and Carabao Cup, dropping them to ninth in the table. United must respond and will be heading into territory where they have not won since 1994. The Cats’ last win against Liverpool came in December 2015.
