Liverpool prove Fortress Anfield is back with incredible 84-year stats

A staggering statistic, unprecedented for 84 years, has revealed just how impressive Liverpool have started the 2023/2024 season domestically.

The Reds have won all 10 of their games at Anfield this season to finish third in the Premier League, behind the League Cup and Europa League leaders.

On Thursday night, they scored a brace in a 4-0 win over LASK, with Cody Gakpo scoring a brace and all three starting strikers getting on the scoresheet.

We may have taken home wins for granted, but this was the only home form we saw in the top flight in 1938/39!10 – Liverpool have won all 10 games at Anfield this season by two goals.

They are only the second English top-flight club to win 10 consecutive home games, after Wolves, with two goals between December 1938 and April 1939 (12). Perfect.

According to Opta, Jurgen Klopp’s side are only the second team in the history of the first division to win 10 consecutive home games by two or more goals.

Only the Wolves have accomplished the feat before, eight years ago, in 12 games. But Liverpool are not done yet and could go one step closer to that record with a convincing win against Fulham this weekend.

If they overcome this challenge by more than two goals, United could move level on points with Wolves when they visit later this month. A repeat of last season’s strike will probably do the trick!

The team’s current aggregate score at Anfield is 31-4 for the Reds in 2023/24. The last time Liverpool failed to win at Anfield, Roberto Firmino was one of four players to bid an emotional farewell to the Kop after a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Klopp’s side are once again turning their base into a fortress, which will be a decisive weapon in the four-front silverware war between now and May.

Reds have a long way to go to win the title at home in 2019/20, with 18 wins at Anfield and just one draw in 19 Premier League games.

But this is the start fans have been waiting for and Klopp will be looking to continue that impressive run of form when Fulham travel to Merseyside on Sunday.
