Liverpool should consider ‘next Dominik Szoboszlai’ who just helped to beat Manchester United

Dominik Szoboszlai has been a revelation since arriving at Liverpool. Already the 23-year-old has become a fan favourite and has settled in very quickly to Jürgen Klopp’s side as if he had been playing for Liverpool for many years.

Back home in his country, Szoboszlai is regarded as an icon. Undoubtedly the best player Hungary has produced in the 21st century, he is also the first since the likes of Ferenc Puskás and László Kubala to have had the chance to leave a legacy at a major European club.

But Szoboszlai is not an anomaly right now in Hungarian football. The country has invested heavily in player development and football infrastructure and as a result, Hungary has started to witness a footballing renaissance.

Last year, the country beat England 4-0 in the Nations League, and currently, Hungary has the longest unbeaten run in Europe having not tasted a defeat in more than a year stretching to 10 games.

At youth level, there are plenty of exciting young players coming through looking to follow in the footsteps of Szoboszlai as well. One of those is a player who should on Liverpool’s radar after having started to catch the eye in the UEFA Youth League.

Hunor Vajk Németh recently starred in the U17 European Championship for his country, where he was undoubtedly Hungary’s best player in the tournament. An energetic midfielder, who is constantly scanning the field of play and is blessed with brilliant technical ability, there are many parallels to be drawn between him and Szoboszlai.

Recently, Németh has also been signed by the same agency as Szoboszlai, and the comparisons are mounting. The Liverpool midfielder’s agent, Mátyás Esterházy, had high praise for the young Hungarian as well.
