Bayern Munich lost 1-0 to Lazio on Wednesday. This means that despite managing 41 games, Tuchel has lost as many games as his predecessor Julien Nagelsmann. So, Bayern expect Tuchel to continue to be active. Relegation from the Champions League could see him sacked before the end of the season next month.
The report says Alonso is the first choice to replace him. Hansi Flick is being talked about as caretaker manager, a role he filled when Bayern won the treble in 2020. Flick is currently inactive and you can jump right in.
Of course, Alonso couldn’t do that. He plays for Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen and is ready to end Bayern’s dominance in Germany. This is definitely a blow for Liverpool. It’s no secret that Manchester United want Alonso to replace Jurgen Klopp, who is stepping down at the end of the season.
Alonso has three clubs he would like to manage: Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. It is absurdly unfortunate that any of these courses seem to be open at the same time. It’s a real shame for the two, who are now locked in a battle for management control that will become a regular showdown.
