Liverpool Football Club suffered the ‘biggest drop’ in Deloitte’s latest money rankings. The “Reds” had a difficult season. Deloitte has published its annual football award rankings for the 2022/2023 season. The league table shows how much clubs earn during a season from matchday, advertising and broadcasting revenue and is ranked in the top 20.
As one of the biggest clubs in the world, Liverpool usually ranks very high in these rankings. Their rise under Jurgen Klopp is a big reason. Because they are constantly challenging for the biggest trophies and have reached three UEFA Champions League finals. In fact, Liverpool finished third in the previous standings. Only Manchester City and Real Madrid have been ahead. Unfortunately, not this time. This time, “Liverpool” recorded the “biggest decline” of all the clubs in the rating. They fell to seventh place and Deloitte said:”Liverpool dropped from third to seventh, their biggest drop so far this year, and were one of three Money League clubs (along with Atletico Madrid and West Ham United) to see their turnover in down from last season as the club struggled to compete.
in domestic and European competitions. It comes after reaching three finals and finishing second in the league in 2021/22 after a dip in performance on the pitch in all of them.Last season the club won two trophies and reached the Champions League final. There is a huge amount of money that has not been received in 2022/2023.They will certainly hope to make some adjustments this year, but being involved in the UEFA Europa League makes it virtually impossible for them to go too high.
Still, a deep run in a Cup race and possibly a title run would go a long way in getting them back on track. Moreover, it shows how much this summer’s investment has helped Liverpool’s recovery.
