Liverpool ‘target’ 19-goal winger who has had a ‘magnificent season’, could negotiate cut price this summer

Liverpool are considering new potential attacking options as they enter the summer transfer window.

The transfer rumours are swirling as Liverpool enter the final weeks of their time under Jurgen Klopp. The German will make way for his incoming successor, Arne Slot, at the end of this season, marking the start of a new era at Anfield.

Slot has not yet been officially announced but reports are already going wild with what kind of players he will want to bring to Merseyside, and those who he may place on the chopping block.

There is a lot of speculation over Liverpool’s attacking line right now, with rumours doing the rounds over Mohamed Salah, Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz’s futures.

The Reds may need to recruit heavily in attack this summer, even if just one of the trio leaves, they will leave a hefty gap in the club’s options.

A number of names have been linked with potential Anfield moves and Ben Jacobs has reported that Liverpool are now focusing on Crysencio Summerville of Leeds United.

The reporter has informed GiveMeSport that both Leeds and Summerville are awaiting their promotion fate. The Whites suffered relegation from the Premier League last season and many expected them to bounce straight back up.

That certainly looked to be the case until recently, when Ipswich Town denied them the second automatic promotion spot.

Now, Leeds’ only hope of returning to the top flight is through the play-offs, and it will be no easy task. The division in which the Elland Road outfit play in next season will severely affect their stance on keeping hold of key players like Summerville.

“Crysencio Summerville is a target. Of course, from Leeds’ position and from his position, both the club and the player are simply waiting to see whether Leeds go up,” Jacobs said.

“If Leeds don’t go up, then they’re going to be braced for offers for Summerville, who’s had a magnificent season. Of course, there will be interest and Liverpool are one of the clubs looking at Summerville.

If Leeds get promoted, let’s see what the player thinks and obviously Leeds will be in a much stronger position to negotiate.”

Indeed, Summerville has contributed 19 goals and nine assists in the Championship this season and is the third top goalscorer in the division.

Recent reports have claimed that Leeds will demand up to £40 million to let their star winger leave, but that could well be negotiated if they remain in tier two.
