Liverpool are planning to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio, who is attracting interest from Manchester United.
The Reds have focused on strengthening the midfield this summer without strengthening other departments.
However, the club plan to do the same next year and are reportedly looking to sign Inacio in January. United also like the Portuguese, but Liverpool are in a good financial position to pay him in the new year.
The Red Devils will need to take stock before signing a new centre-back, but the same cannot be said for their opponents. Inacio signed a new contract earlier this summer, which increased his release fee to €60 million.
Sporting will likely maintain this metric. However, Liverpool could be persuaded to accept payments in installments over several seasons, rather than paying the full amount upfront.
Inacio said he is ready for a move to the Premier League.
