Liverpool transfer news as $54m playmaker move ‘likely’ and new Lucas Beraldo claim emerges

 

One report said a move for the playmaker was “likely”, while another bid for Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo emerged ahead of January.

Liverpool did a lot in the summer, but the Reds’ recruitment team have had a difficult transfer window due to the amount of money they have to commit. This became a much more difficult task once the evolution process became more widespread, as many players had to be replaced at once.

Fortunately, new players Alexis McAllister, Dominic Soboslay, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenbirch have all played their part in the season so far.

It’s clear how well at least three of these players fit into Anfield’s long-term plans, and Liverpool have picked up someone of real quality to play with under Jurgen Klopp.But there is more to do.

Liverpool’s defense will need to be watched closely and planning will need to be done in other areas of the pitch as well.

With the Premier League title race underway this season, there is an argument to be made that at least one mid-season signing should be made to provide a timely boost to the squad.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Sao Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo for some time, but the Daily Star (via Paisley Gates) report that Newcastle, West Ham United and Brentford are all ready to sign the 20-year-old before January . was reported to exist.

Beraldo, worth an estimated $25 million, has played more than 50 games at Brazil’s top level and is one of the most highly rated star players in South America.

The Reds could need a new centre-back as Joel Matip is out of contract at the end of the season.

According to Liverpool.com: Without seeing Beraldo in action, it is hard to say whether he is the right player for the Reds. But a new defender is Liverpool’s next priority in the transfer window.

With Matip out of contract and Virgil van Dijk turning 30, Liverpool must plan for the future. Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez don’t have the best injury records and, like Jarell Quansah, are still very young and inexperienced.
