Liverpool transfer news: Xabi Alonso to block Jurgen Klopp from signing defensive target

 

Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie has been tipped to make a big move to Liverpool, but former liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has made his position clear.

Jurgen Klopp’s side went top after beating Burnley 2-0 on Boxing Day. At least before Arsenal take on West Ham at the Emirates on Thursday night.

Klopp was pleased with the summer signings but knows more could be added to boost their chances of reclaiming the English crown.

To stop Alonso Hincapi from moving

Former Liverpool midfielder and current Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso will not allow Liverpool to sign German centre-back Piero Hincay in January.

Despite fans’ hopes that Klopp would bring in a new defender to replace Joel Matip, who is out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury, 21-year-old Hincapie has been handed a move. Enfield.

But German publication Kicker report that Hincapie, who has now been linked with Premier League rivals Chelsea along with Alonso and Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tach, will not be allowed to leave the Bay Arena.

The Ecuador international has not been a regular fixture for the former Liverpool player this season. Leverkusen remain unbeaten at the halfway point of the season, but Hincapie is one of the Bundesliga’s most promising defenders and can also play at left-back.

Liverpool will not make a January move for Fulham’s Anthony Robinson and the Reds are preparing to make a bid. Despite injuries to senior left-backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, Klopp hopes Robertson can return from shoulder surgery at the end of January and Tsimikas could be out for several months.

Robinson, 26, was born in Milton Keynes but is an American international. The Fulham defender spent more than a decade at Everton in his youth before impressing for Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic.
