Liverpool U21s manager Barry Lutas is delighted that Amara Nalo will make his debut in the Premier League International Cup tie with Benfica. At the age of 16, centre-back Nalo signed from West Ham United in August.
Leutas told Liverpoolfc.com: “Amara played great. He and Carter Pinnington have played consistently for us so far. Look, he’s only 16 and I don’t think we’ve ever asked a kid that young to play center back against big players.
He is really proud of his success. “I think the most important thing about Amara is that she played really well, but she didn’t let any mistakes or changes in her game affect her.
So she didn’t play like she did when she was 16, that’s for sure…” . “Leutas also had a word with James McConnell. “Unbelievable! When James came on for us in the Merseyside derby off the bench at Anfield, I thought he did really well and he did a good job.
He showed us a lot of different things in this game and this season. ” He played number 6 and scored with a header. “That shows what he can do.”
