Liverpool, Virgil Van Dijk asked referee have you been drinking after failing to award them penalty


Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk impressed referee Chris Kavanagh during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Anfield. Arsenal had a penalty powerfully saved in the 19th minute after captain Martin Odegaard pushed aside Mo Salah’s NBA-style low ball.

Gunners defender William Saliba admitted after the game that his side were lucky with the decision, telling Viaplay: “It was definitely a penalty. But I’m not the referee.”Another late decision against Liverpool came when Van Dijk was adjudged to have fouled Gabriel Jesus near the center circle.

Van Dyke expressed his displeasure with referee Kavanagh. Fans watching on TV heard the Dutchman ask the referee: “Have you been drinking?”

However, he can still be penalized if his behavior towards the referee is deemed inappropriate.
