Liverpool return to Europa League action as they welcome an Atalanta side who have picked up just one win in their last five Serie A appearances.
Liverpool’s attention will turn away from the Premier League briefly when they welcome Atalanta to Anfield ahead of their Europa League quarter-final match. Jurgen Klopp’s side remain the favourites to win the European competition in Dublin this season but first need to go through Atalanta and the winner of the Benfica-Marseille tie.
The Reds are the favourites to take the first leg at 3/10 with CopyBet while Atalanta are 13/2 to surprise a few at Anfield and a draw is 21/5. The Serie A club are just one of three clubs to have beaten both Merseyside teams in European competitions, joining Benfica and Lyon.
After failing to pick up a win at Old Trafford at the second attempt this season, their title race hopes remain neck-and-neck as they sit level on points with Arsenal just one ahead of holders Manchester City. As all three sides focus on their European ties, Liverpool will be reassured no one has the upper-hand of any midweek rest at this point of the domestic season.
For Atalanta, continuing their European campaign will be a plus as their domestic form takes a knock. Gian Gasperini’s side have picked up three defeats in their last five league outings which puts them five points behind Roma who sit in the last European spot in Serie A right now.
