The home game against Wasps is Liverpool’s last chance to pick up a point before the next international break.

They travel to title holders Manchester City on Saturday for an early kick-off against Jurgen Klopp.

But before that, United will have to face a test at Brentford and the Premier League have confirmed their line-up for the match with 42-year-old Tierney in the centre. Scott Ledger and Mark Scholes will be Tierney’s assistants, while Tim Robinson will be the fourth official.

Klopp was banned for two matches for making comments about Tierney’s Liverpool team after the game. The second ban saw him suspended until the end of the season.

“I don’t know if it’s against us. “He said there was no problem, but that’s not true,” Klopp said.

The Liverpool manager was booked for celebrating Manchester United’s late winner in front of fourth official John Brooks in a tense match. The controversial incident was not the only time Klopp has been angry with Tierney.

After a 2-2 draw with Tottenham in December 2021, the German told Tierney: “There’s no problem with the referees. It’s just you.”Despite Klopp’s frustration with Tierney, Liverpool’s record under the Wigan-born referee has been excellent.

In 25 matches, the Reds have won 13, drawn 8 and lost just 4.

Meanwhile, VAR of choice Atwell has also recently been on the other side of Klopp. The Liverpool manager criticized Attwell’s performance, referring to the Reds’ 3-1 defeat to rivals Brentford on Sunday in January this year.

He had this to say after the loss: “There was only one offensive mistake in the whistle booth tonight. It was against us. This is nonsense. “They wanted more games than we wanted. You can tell by the way they whistled. “They scored the two corners, one was offside, and the other obviously we didn’t behave well, but they respected the rules.

Obviously you can do it.”There is no respect for the third goal. The referee ruled that it was not a foul and the VAR hid behind the words “clear and obvious”. If anyone questions, the referee must explain this.
