Liverpool are planning to strengthen their position in the Premier League by making a statement in the January transfer window. Currently three points off the top of the Premier League, Liverpool are in the strongest position to win the title this season. Manchester City are five points behind but still have a game in hand against their rivals.

As a result, Jurgen Klopp is focused on strengthening the squad ahead of a difficult second half of the season. With the knockout rounds of the FA Cup and Europa League approaching, Liverpool will need as many fresh legs as possible to maintain their lead.

Liverpool are increasing their interest in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, a player they were previously linked with last summer, according to Picajes. Ben Jacobs has revealed that Liverpool are unwilling to meet their interest in Piero Hincapy, Joao Palhinha and André in the January transfer window, with Kone currently the favorite to fill Liverpool’s midfield.

However, the report also claims that Bayern Munich are also interested in signing Kone, meaning it won’t be easy for either prospect. If the contract runs until June 2026, the Frenchman would have a release clause that would make him available for around £35-40m.

But after their long-term interest in Jude Bellingham failed to materialize last summer, Liverpool could right that wrong by signing their next option. Indeed, Bellingham has become one of the best players in the world for Real Madrid this season and while Liverpool’s recruitment is going well so far, they could still use some new faces in the squad, especially compared to the Englishman .

Kone is described as “physically strong, quick, agile and a tireless worker, meaning comparisons between Kone and Bellingham are inevitable.” Kone, 22, can play anywhere in central midfield, including in defence, box-to-box and attack. Therefore, he could fit right into Klopp’s squad should the need arise.
