Virgil van Dijk has been impressed by the Liverpool player’s progress.Virgil van Dijk says he has been somewhat surprised by Liverpool defender Yarrell Quansah’s progress this season.
Quansah broke into the first team squad this season after impressive performances in pre-season and the 20-year-old has impressed the club’s fans with his performances so far this season.
Van Dijk admitted he was surprised by how well Quansah performed and singled out the defender as an inspiration to other youngsters at the club.
“I think Jarrell has done a good job every time he’s had the opportunity,” explained the Liverpool captain (via The Mirror). “When the time comes, they have to be ready like any other player that comes in during a rotation, injury or suspension.
We still have Ibou [Ibrahima Konate] and Joe [Joe Gomez], but we also have Jarell.” Also a very good option. “If you had told me at the start of the season that he would be as good as he is, I would have said you were lying.
We will see what the future holds for him, but it looks very bright.”Quanza has made 10 appearances for Liverpool’s first team in all competitions this season.
With Joel Matip set to miss at least the rest of the season, the 20-year-old could take on a bigger role in the coming months.
Serie A giants Juventus are ready to sell one of their jewels, Turkish youngster Kenan Yildiz. Yıldız has made several appearances for Juventus, but with the Italian side facing major financial losses in the 2022/2023 season, he could be sacrificed to balance the books at the end of the season.
Liverpool have recently been linked with a move for the youngster (via Calciomercato), with Turkish coach Soykan Baska (via OneFootball) comparing him to Cristiano Ronaldo.
That’s why the club value the teenager at around $43 million, according to Italian newspaper Calciomercato, which could be a deal breaker for Liverpool.
With Yıldız only making four appearances for Juventus, Liverpool are unlikely to give that level of playing time to an unproven talent, even if he is a comparable star to Ronaldo.
The small fee could make him worth the risk, but the most likely outcome is that he stays with the Italy team for now.
