Liverpool have been in contact with Kylian Mbappe’s agent since he and his family were first linked in 2017.
The then 18-year-old was sold to Liverpool owner John W. Bush in 2017. Until Henry decided to stay in France and join PSG instead for around £166 million.
Liverpool fans know the French superstar is out of the Reds’ price range, but he remains a target for Jurgen Klopp as his contract expires in the summer transfer window. Despite the love for the 24-year-old in recent seasons, it is no longer clear whether Mbappe will join Real Madrid.
Los Blancos recently stated that they will not negotiate with Mbappe, and Madrid have reportedly decided to sign Jamal Musiala. The German forward is also a target for Liverpool and Manchester City, but the 20-year-old is yet to make a decision on his future.
A recent statement from French publication L’Equipe said Liverpool “never lost contact” with Mbappe and his representatives. His business is managed off the pitch by his family.
It is reported that the Reds will not give up their bid to sign Mbappe. Could Kylian Mbappe become Mohamed Salah’s successor at Liverpool?
Unfortunately, Mohamed Salah’s contract with Liverpool expires in 2025, meaning the club will have to sell him in the summer if they want to cash in on him. After Liverpool and Salah both rejected bids worth £150m, Saudi Arabian Professional League director of football Michael Emenalo told Sky Sports that Al Ittihad will continue their efforts to sign him.
On September 9, he said: “First of all, Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in the world. “But we have to do everything in a very professional and respectful way.”If that doesn’t happen, it’s not because we don’t like the player anymore or because there’s a problem at Liverpool.
This is because some things that require all parties involved in the process to be on the same page are not.”Nobody’s upset. We’re moving forward, but we’re not going to close the door. If there’s an opportunity to do something right, and that’s to bring Mohamed Salah to the Saudi Professional League, we’ll all be very grateful.
“With Salah likely to leave at the end of the season, Liverpool could soon need a top striker to replace him. Which young striker has the same pedigree as Mbappe?
Salah is virtually impossible to replace as there aren’t many players who can score more than 30 goals from the wing every season.Mbappe may be used to playing as a left winger and center forward, but that won’t stop Liverpool from signing him if they get the chance.
The Frenchman’s scoring record is already the record for a professional player in a season.
According to Transfermarkt, he has 256 goals and 117 assists at the age of 24. Of these, Mbappe scored 41 goals and 10 assists last season.
If Liverpool are really in touch with Mbappe and his family, signing him as Salah’s replacement could be their only positive decision.
