Jones has missed Liverpool’s last three Premier League games after picking up a red card in last month’s controversial defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old was booked for a tackle on Yves Bisouma before VAR referee Simon Hooper advised him to watch the game on the pitch monitors.

Jones’ dismissal, the first of his professional career, was confirmed by the Football Association following Liverpool’s appeal earlier this month. The appeal ruled the midfielder out of league games against Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton and Nottingham Forest.

However, due to a domestic ban, Jones, who is now eligible to play for Manchester United in the Europa League, will be able to play at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday night.

Liverpool are aiming to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition for the ninth time in February 2022. Liverpool’s dream move turned into a nightmare as the record signing returned from a 17-month injury layoff.

However, Manchester United manager Jurgen Klopp will be missing from the trip to the Cherries without Stefan cetic, Thiago Alcantara, Andy Robertson, Ben Doak and Conor Bradley. Assistant manager Pep Lijnders previewed the optimal final match at a press conference and could not put a timetable on when Liverpool would meet Thiago, who has not played since April. Luis Diaz is also expected to miss Saturday’s match in Colombia as the search for his kidnapped father continues. With all that in mind, Liverpool’s entire squad is ready for Wednesday’s clash with Bournemouth in the League Cup.
