A massive search is under way for Liverpool winger Luis Diaz’s father, kidnapped in Colombia October 28, 2023 along with his wife, who has since been released Hundreds of people have marched on the streets of Colombia for the safe release of Luis Diaz’s father, who remains a hostage after being kidnapped. Luis Manuel Diaz, along with his wife Cilenis Marulanda, were taken by armed men on motorcycles on Saturday before Diaz’s mother was eventually rescued by police later that night.
Mr Diaz, however, is still being held captive and a huge search and rescue mission is underway across the country, with a reward of around £40,000 set for anyone with information.
Diaz learned of the incident on Saturday evening at Liverpool’s team hotel and was given permission to sit out Sunday’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest. The winger won’t be involved when the Reds are hosted by Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening. As part of the efforts to return Diaz’s father back to his family, a march that was organised across social media by family and friends took place on Tuesday with hundreds turning out for the event wearing white, including his wife, Cilenis Marulanda.
