Former Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic has only been a member of the Los Angeles Lakers for roughly 48 hours, and there’s already more buzz surrounding the team now than at any point in recent memory.
Doncic was traded to L.A. from Dallas over the weekend along with forwards Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris in a blockbuster deal that sent 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis plus guard Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round pick.
The Utah Jazz also received guard Jalen Hood-Schifino, the Los Angeles Clippers‘ 2025 second-round pick and the Mavericks’ 2025 second-round pick as well.
Doncic hasn’t played since Christmas while nursing a calf injury that’s sidelined him for the last 20 games, but the 25-year-old superstar is apparently close to returning according to a report from Marc Spears ESPN and Andscape.
“When he got off the plane, he spoke to Rob Pelinka for a while and that’s when reality starting hitting like, ‘Yo, I’m a Laker. This is cool, this is great, I’m amongst celebrities, I’m in L.A., there’s history here.’ Then after that, he went to dinner with an old teammate, JJ Redick.
