Luton Manager Rob Edwards: I thought it’d be our day after Nunez howler

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards admits he could not praise Tahiti Chong’s performance in yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Edwards was pleased with the goal but worried about the VAR intervention. “I’m really looking forward to it, but there are two reasons I’m not celebrating outside,” she said.

“One of them was VAR and I thought, ‘Can we control it?’ What happens.“And there will still be plenty of time for Liverpool to score four goals.

So I didn’t want to celebrate too much and decided to stay focused. “It was a good feeling, a good goal, the moments we had against those teams, the counter-attacking moments.

“It was good to see the players looking cool because we don’t have much control in the final third, which is something we’ve been talking about for the last few weeks.

“Edwards said he believed it was the day after Darwin Nunes missed the keeper in the 70th minute. “You start thinking: is today our day?“

Then they came back and went 1-0 up, but I honestly think they deserved something because of the chances they had. “It wasn’t just one coincidence after another.

I didn’t think there was too much pressure when we got back into form, but we know they have the ability to break us down.
