Man City injury list grows before Liverpool as reality for new Philippe Coutinho clear

It’s largely been a successful international break for some of the big names at Liverpool so far. Mohamed Salah has had the most spectacular game up to this point, netting four times as Egypt thrashed Djibouti 6-0 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in Colombia, Luis Díaz scored a storybook double past clubmate Alisson to give his side a famous victory over Brazil, and Darwin Núñez was on target as Uruguay ended a 14-match winning run for world champion Argentina. The pair are back in action on Tuesday night against Paraguay and Bolivia respectively as South American World Cup qualifying continues.

Over in Europe, Dominik Szoboszlai scored two goals in as many minutes as Hungary, already assured of a place at Euro 2024, rallied to beat Montenegro 3-1. Szoboszlai can now return to Liverpool, with his work for this month’s break done.
