Man City ‘pull ahead of Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG in the race for Bayern Munich star’s services’ as Pep Guardiola’s side ‘look to bolster their attacking options this summer’

Manchester City are moving ahead of the pack chasing after one of Europe’s best young attackers, according to reports.

Man City are almost synonymous with ’embarrassment of attacking riches’ these days, with at least one of Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez often not even making the starting XI.

The Treble winners have put together a squad that can quite literally beat any team in the world, and proved just that with a Club World Cup trophy this season.

However, one thing they have always exceeded at is continuing to progress the team, and with Kevin De Bruyne moving into his mid-thirties and Foden emerging as an un-droppable player, they are now linked with a Bayern Munich star.

As such, the club are thought to be on the hunt for someone who fills the brief of being able to fill in several different attacking roles, according to the Independent’s report.

Jamal Musiala emerged in recent years as one of the most exciting attacking players in the world after his huge talent propelled him to the forefront of the European game with Bayern Munich.

Musiala is capable of playing in behind the striker – as he has shown this season with Erling Haaland – and is just as comfortable out wide, much like Foden.

It is believed that he is keen on a move to England, given the draw of a league with such international profile and exposure, and in fact grew up in west London.

There is a belief that a move for Musiala may necessitate the sale of another high-profile figure at the club.

Jamal Musiala has emerged as one of the best play-making attackers in Europe at Bayern.

City have also been linked with Lucas Paqueta of West Ham and Michael Olise of Crystal Palace, though Musiala’s profile perhaps represents a player a cut above the Premier League duo.

West Ham are in a strong negotiating position Paquet’s existing contract running until 2027 with the option for an extension for a further year.

Success in the Europa League – where they play Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen in a quarter-final clash – would likely further increase their price tag.

Meanwhile, City are expected to bring in further reinforcements at the end of the season with Kalvin Phillips set to leave permanently at the end of the campaign.
