Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly set to return from injury during Manchester United’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Liverpool on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag’s side were dealt a huge blow after the Danish striker, who had been in flying form, was ruled out of their last four matches with a muscle injury.
The 21-year-old had made history becoming the youngest player in the Premier League era to score seven goals in six consecutive games.
However, according to Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand, the striker is set to make his return this weekend against Jurgen Klopp’s side at Old Trafford.
The Dane said, per journalist Nicolaj Ronstrup: ‘Rasmus will play on Sunday against Liverpool and must go through the match well. That’s what we expect. We are in contact with United. I have talked to Erik and we expect it to happen.’
It comes as Ten Hag also confirmed that Hojlund could return for their game against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Dutchman provided an update on three of his injured stars earlier in the week, saying to talkSPORT: ‘Hopefully, some return.’
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was, yesterday, on the pitch. We expect also Harry Maguire back in the squad next week. Rasmus Hojlund has good hope he will make it as well.’
United have certainly missed Hojlund, with the Red Devils’ seven-match unbeaten streak coming to a halt after their 2-1 defeat by Fulham at the end of February. They bounced back to claim a 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, only to suffer defeat against Man City a week later.
Last week, Hojlund had been named the Premier League’s player of the month, having turned around his slow start to life at Man United.
The 21-year-old, who arrived at Old trafford in a £72million deal, had been praised for ‘toiling away’ to finally start scoring following his goal drought.
‘I’m very happy,’ he said to the club’s website after winning the Premier League’s Player of the Month for February.
‘I always like to say I have the confidence before I go into a game. Of course, you get a little bit more momentum going into the game when you’ve scored.
‘You feel like you’re in good form and in a good flow and you just want the next game to come. They can’t come fast enough!’
This week, Hojlund reportedly had been spoken to by his team-mates after conducting an interview with a Man United YouTube fan channel, ‘The United Stand’ which is hosted by Mark Goldbridge.
He had reportedly been questioned over the interview to the channel which had been ‘built on negativity and slaughtering United players’.
