Manchester United’s failure Anthony could be the toast of Facundo Pellistri as he steals the show alongside the Liverpool star.

Anthony has been ruled out of Manchester United’s last two games and Facundo Pellistri could push him up the promotion ladder.

Anthony did little in his debut season in England to convince United fans that he was the club’s long-term right winger. The 23-year-old was rarely featured, making 44 appearances for Ten Haag last season despite contributing just eight goals and three assists.

His performance has taken a turn for the worse, with him failing to record a point or assist in 12 games this season. And the Ten Hag responded by leaving his former Ajax pupil on the bench for United’s last two games against FC Copenhagen and Luton Town.

Alejandro Garnacho started on the left, while Marcus Rashford moved to the right of £72m striker Rasmus Hoylund. But Anthony is in danger of falling into the hearts of Ten Haag after Facundo Pellitri sent the Dutchman a surprising message on Tuesday night.

Pellistri played a key role in Uruguay’s 3-0 win over Bolivia, continuing their successful 2026 World Cup qualification campaign.

The 21-year-old played 77 minutes and helped the hosts take the lead through Darwin Nunes, successfully beating the right-back on the outside before finding the Liverpool star with a cutback.

Anthony has been regularly criticized for his predictability after receiving the ball, which has contributed to Hojlund’s lack of work since his arrival in the summer.

He lines up on his weak right foot and looks to cross the ball, but often chooses to cut inside and shoot or pass to the side or back.

But Pellistri showed those qualities in the dressing room during his stunning performance against Bolivia.

Anthony is not training with Manchester United.Pellistri shot 88 percent, won four of six floor duels, committed one defensive turnover and two sacks.

He replaced Anthony on the hour mark for Bruno Fernandes’ injury-time winner against Fulham in his last game for United.

Despite his recent international performances, he has not been able to dampen the enthusiasm of the fans, who are starting to talk about the Brazilian more often.
