Marie Hobinger has been named Liverpool FC’s Women’s Player of the Month for October.
The 22-year-old midfielder has made an excellent start to his Manchester United career following his move from FC Zurich this summer. Her first goal against Aston Villa earned her a nomination for the Barclays Women’s Super League Goal of the Month and she added a second goal in her final WSL game against West Ham United.
Hobinger received the award at the AXA Melwood Training Center after returning from a successful international performance against Austria where he provided two assists.
“I’m very happy to be in such a good position,” the number 14 told Liverpolfc.com. “I feel really good with the team and all the girls help me get on the pitch and have fun playing football. “I think the most important time to perform on the spot is right now. “I really enjoyed it and I hope I can continue.”Reflecting on his stunning goal against Villa, he added: “I loved that moment.
I think it was a moment of relief because we were the first team to score. “The most important thing to score a goal is to help the team and secure the victory and that is important.“Some of the girls took me under their wing from day one and that helped a lot. I absolutely love it here and the girls and friends I have made in my short time are really special.”
The Reds, who started the season with two wins, lost the Merseyside derby and dropped all three points after an injury time draw against West Ham.Hobinger thought, “I think we started well, but the results were disappointing.” “I think it shows how Liverpool are improving as a club. We want to win every game.”“Matt [Bird] and all the coaches we work with are great. The training is very good and I really like it. We are working on the details. I like it and want to keep improving.”
Hobinger thanked the fans who voted for him and acknowledged the impact they had on the team’s display.”The support at every game is great and I really enjoy it,” he said. “The on-site performance helps us a lot and we appreciate the support and we think it’s great.”
The Austria international and her teammates return to action at Prenton Park on Sunday when they take on Leicester City. Leicester City are fifth in the table thanks to the Reds’ goals and the Continental League Cup between the two clubs last month. .
Hoebinger has no doubt that there are difficult days ahead, but dhe is confident that the result will be different this time. “It was a very difficult game when we faced Leicester in the Conti Cup, so we expect the same intensity,” she concluded. “But we will prepare well and of course we want the three points.”
