Micah Richards says he is delighted after Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn was linked with a move to Liverpool.
The £50million Scot is one of the Premier League’s players of the season. Villa are currently third in the table under Unai Emery. Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, Richards praised McGinn’s performance this season following his move to Liverpool last year.
People don’t realize how powerful it is,” Richards said. When he breaks and tries to take the ball from him, he comes in and takes a “get off me” attitude. He has quick and decent passes and a lot of people laughed at him when he came from Scotland. “After the first training session I was like, ‘Wow.’ He shoots, carries the ball, knows the ball. Last season, “We need you more. When he thought, “You’re the one leading this team,” he took a step back.”He has been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool for some time but it is good that he is now playing for a team that is fighting for Champions League football. John McGinn has no regrets about criticizing Liverpool for staying at Aston Villa.
But the former Hibernian star made the right decision by staying at Villa Park and Emery has taken McGinn’s game to a whole new level this season. The Scot has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season and McGinn has now set Villa to challenge Liverpool for English football’s biggest prize.
