Michael Malone receives bad news about incoming four-star UNC transfer

The North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program landed an exceptional portal class considering Michael Malone hasn’t been on the job a full month. But there’s now news of a setback in Chapel Hill. A week after FAU’s Maxim Logue committed to UNC, the 6-foot-9 forward won’t be joining the program, according to Inside Carolina. With Logue’s sudden departure, Malone has 10 players on the roster with four coming from the transfer portal. Needless to say, UNC will be on the hunt to fill out the roster for next year. There’s a reduced number of players left in the portal. However, the time to act is now.

Logue averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds this past season off the bench for FAU, shooting 67.4% from the floor. The French national is still making the adjustment to life in America after competing in the U16 European Challengers in 2021, the U17 World Cup in 2022, and the U18 European Championship in 2023.

Former Iowa State standout power forward Milan Momcilovic is still available and would be a solid addition for UNC. He averaged 16.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game for the Cyclones last season.

Malone is currently on the recruiting trail in Spain. The top priority is keeping center Sayon Keita, who is a five-star prospect and plays internationally for FC Barcelona. The 18-year-old 7-footer committed to UNC and has a lot of raw talent. He’s regarded as one of the top international prospects in basketball going into next season.
