Mohamed Salah has been told he is NOT a world-class player, though he is a world-class goalscorer.
That is the verdict from former Liverpool star Paul Ince, who played for the Reds from 1995 to 1997.
talkSPORT’s Andy Goldstein asked Ince if Salah is world-class, to which the Manchester United legend responded: “Is he a world-class goalscorer? Yes.
“I think his record speaks for itself. Is he a world-class player, technically? I wouldn’t say so.
“I think sometimes when he cuts in on his left foot, putting balls into the box, they are not great.
“But as a far as a world-class player scoring goals and making things happen, I think yes.”
Salah signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2017 after joining from AS Roma, where he stunned the Premier League with a phenomenal debut season.
In 36 Premier League appearances, he scored 32 times and has netted 209 in total from 340 appearances – putting him third in Liverpool’s all-time highest goalscorers list.
That is more than many Liverpool legends including Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler and Kenny Dalglish.
Salah scored a last-gasp penalty against United at Old Trafford in his most recent outing on Sunday, a thrilling 2-2 draw, clinching an incredible record in the process.
Liverpool are locked in a tense title race with Arsenal and Manchester City and are second on goal difference after their Old Trafford draw.
However, Salah has resumed full fitness and could be crucial to Jurgen Klopp’s bid to leave Anfield with a league title in the bag.
The German coach will depart the club after nine years in charge where he has won the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
