Mohamed Salah is the biggest waiting list in the world

Salah the best?
Despite several setbacks in recent weeks, the form of Liverpool’s Egyptian king Mohamed Salah in 2023/24 has been outstanding.

I wrote at the end of the summer that I thought the 31-year-old would be leaving for the AFCON in January, putting a real question mark over his return. At the time, I was taken aback by the £200m offer presented by Al Ittihad in the Saudi Arabian Professional League. The move comes amid a summer of transformation and subsequent regeneration at Anfield.

It’s been a summer in desperate need of asset rotation for a previously lackluster team.I wasn’t optimistic about (the Reds’) strong campaign because I thought it would take time to overcome last season’s terrible performance. It is time to rebuild and build a new, competitive side, but the signs point to a strong campaign. Happily, any earlier worries have been put to rest as Liverpool sit top of the Premier League, one point ahead of Arsenal.

This change of fortune turned my mind to the possible next direction for the legendary striker. I think he will reject any move this winter or next summer.
