Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah should speak to team-mate Luis Diaz about his habit of getting back too much from fouls, BBC pundit Garth Crooks has said.
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has been told to say ‘one word’ to Luis Diaz in a bid to force his team-mate out of the match. It was an impressive weekend for Salah after the Egypt international scored twice during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield.
The game didn’t always look like going in the home side’s favor but the Cheeses were able to hang on for a long time after Ashley Young’s red card in the first half.
Jurgen Klopp’s men can count themselves lucky not to have been reduced to 10 men after Ibrahima Konate was booked for a tackle on Everton striker Beto. Minutes later, Salah stepped up to make it 1-0, but a second was added to put the result beyond doubt.
While this was certainly not Salah’s most impressive performance, his ability to turn Liverpool around in these situations makes him invaluable. One person who didn’t like that performance was Diaz, who drew criticism from BBC pundit and former Manchester United player Garth Crooks.
Jurgen Klopp has dealt a double blow to Liverpool’s two transfer targets after the decision was overturned. The pundit was full of praise for Salah and even named the 31-year-old in his Team of the Week, but was less enthused about Diaz.
Crooks has urged Liverpool’s leading marksman to ask his fellow Colombian if he can spend some time on the grass.”Referee Craig Pawson exposed himself in the Merseyside derby, showing no common sense or consistency,” he told BBC Sport. “It also didn’t help Luis Diaz, who came back at least five times with dramatic effect when Young beat him.
“What’s more, Mo Salah is back to his devoted, supportive best and has put an end to Luis Diaz’s current woes. “Now it’s time for Salah Diaz to speak.”Luis told Diaz that he spends too much time on the floor.Luis told Diaz that he spends too much time on the floor.
As Crooks points out, Salah himself soon came under fire for his tendency to fall to the ground. He is now facing calls from others to ban his games.
