The New York Knicks will be hosting the Indiana Pacers for the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals. Both the Knicks and Pacers have battled through hard-fought, close games to reach this point. Moreover, both the teams are facing a title drought that spans over more than 50 years.
The Knicks overcame the odds to knock out the defending champions Boston Celtics. The 18-time champions were outright favorites as the New York Knicks were coming into the semi-finals after a tough fight with the Detroit Pistons.
However, the gritty Knicks brought their A-game, giving Boston little room to breathe. They gave a tough fight and bore the fruits which has given them an opportunity to end their title drought. The New York Knicks last captured the NBA title in 1972. While their last Eastern Conference Finals appearance came in against the same Indiana Pacers at the turn of the century.
