Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he hopes Mo Salah will return to light training “next week”.The Egypt international picked up a hamstring injury while playing for his country in the second leg of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage last month and was asked to present a player’s fitness report at a pre-match press conference .
“We are heading in the right direction. Hopefully he’ll be in training next week, we don’t know, but we’ll have to wait and see. At every step, but positive. “Next week or the week after.”According to Klopp’s comments, the winger could miss the next game against Brentford next weekend. But there is now optimism that Salah will return to action before the end of the month. It is hoped he will be able to play in some capacity against Luton Town on February 21 before playing in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea next Sunday.
Apart from Salah, Dominic Szoboslai doesn’t look set to be out for long. Klopp confirmed the Hungary international has returned to light training after a recurrence of his hip injury. There is a chance to bounce back against Brentford. Connor Bradley remains on sick leave, while Kostas Tsimikas (fracture), Joel Matip (ACL) and Stefan Vaisetic (hamstring) remain unavailable.Thiago Alcantara suffered another injury. The Spaniard made his first appearance of the season in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal after recovering from a hip injury. However, he is currently struggling with a muscle problem and is expected to be ruled out of Burnley.
