Neymar has a history of ailments, dating back to when he moved from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.
Most PSG supporters became frustrated with him last season due to his ongoing injury problems, and they staged protests against him until he made the decision to sign a transfer agreement worth an estimated €90 million to join Al Hilal, a Saudi Pro League team.
The 31-year-old attacker from Brazil was sidelined for about a month after joining the team due to an injury.
Unfortunately for both Brazil and Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday night, October 17, during Brazil’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier, Neymar was taken off the field on a stretcher with what looked to be a significant knee injury.
The Brazil international landed awkwardly during the first half of the match as he challenged Nicolas de la Cruz for the ball.
Neymar may miss the remainder of the football season due to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus tears, as stated by Al Hilal in a statement on Wednesday, October 18.
Neymar posted a statement on his Instagram page following the injury, expressing his disappointment and asking for his loved ones’ support.
“It’s a very sad moment, the worst of my life,” he murmured.
“I know I’m strong, but right now I need my friends and family’s support,”
“Being hurt, having surgery, and then having to do it all over again in just four months is not easy.
“I trust God, and I give it to Him.”
