‘Not at risk’ – Relief over injury to Liverpool player, although there’s further tests today

Taken off on a stretcher during the 4-1 win over Brentford, Diogo Jota has been keeping Liverpool fans worried.

 

The forward had already set up Darwin Nuñez for the Reds’ opener in the game, but had to leave the field in the 44th minute and be replaced by Mohamed Salah.

Record have an update on the winger’s situation on Monday, and bring some good news for Liverpool, as the left knee issue ‘doesn’t point to the most serious scenario’.

In fact, the rest of the season and beyond for Jota is ‘not at risk’, but the Anfield side will make sure the Portugal international ‘will still be assessed’.

 

For now, everything points to the winger being out ‘for around two months’, which will come as a personal blow to the 27-year-old, as that would leave him out of the EFL Cup final against Chelsea as well as crucial games in the Champions League and Premier League.

Liverpool are still active in all competitions, but the relief for Jota is that he still has a good chance of making the Euros this summer, as he will want redemption after missing the 2022 World Cup through injury when he suffered a calf issue that kept him out for four months.
