“Oh my God, I was lucky!” – Jurgen Klopp’s merciless criticism of Caicedo and Lavia

Jurgen Klopp has commented on Liverpool’s failed moves for Moises Caicedo and Romeo lavia, launching a merciless attack on the pair.

It is well known that Liverpool need a defensive midfielder to replace Fabinho in the summer. Caicedo appeared to be top of the list with the Reds completing a £111million move for the Brighton midfielder.

However, the Ecuadorian decided to join Chelsea, as did Romeo lavia. Since then, with the Londoners sitting 16th in the Premier League, it’s fair to say none of their moves have gone to plan.

Speaking at the Anfield Road stand test event, Klopp said: “We’ve had some amazing things in the summer transfer window but here we’re thinking, ‘God, we’ve been lucky.

We are in a safe haven.” ” we are?’ I can say that. “Fortunately, the audience laughed and we can now joke about the incident. Caicedo is flattered to have cheated so far, while Lavia is yet to play due to injury.

“We didn’t know it at the time and it didn’t feel like it. But we’re very happy that it was successful. But we had no idea before,” the boss added. He joked: “We realized that other central defensive midfielders did not want to join Liverpool.

Look what happened. And I found (Wataru) Endo. He is a special player.”The Reds have turned to Endo from Stuttgart after 19-year-old Rabia also opted for Chelsea despite a £60m bid from Liverpool.

Endo is in the final stages of Labia’s career, but that hasn’t stopped the club from signing him to a four-year deal.

The Japanese are starting to find form and Klopp said: “I’m glad we took a fresh look at the situation and looked a bit deeper and it became clear that we want this kid. “He definitely wanted to come and that helped.

“For a while, Endo only played in the Europa League, and until November his only Premier League start came at St James’ Park.

However, he has begun to earn the trust of Klopp and the fans by starting Liverpool’s last two home games and two European matches.
