Liverpool prepare for their next Premier League game against Manchester United, remembering last season’s 7-0 defeat.
As Liverpool prepare to travel to Manchester United next weekend, fans will no doubt be reminiscing about an incredible day at Anfield last season. It must be clear in the minds of players from both teams. With Manchester United on the rise once again this season, some are expecting another tumultuous performance this time around. The only problem with this win is that it was the highlight of the season. This was an anomaly in a very disappointing campaign. Immediately after the game, Liverpool were brought straight back down to earth, losing 1-0 to Bournemouth. If beating Manchester United 7-0 was the highlight, this loss was probably the worst. He proved them wrong that season.
The mental monsters that Jurgen Klopp has created over the years seemed to have disappeared, but thankfully they seem to be back. The Reds needed another win at Crystal Palace on Saturday. It certainly wasn’t pretty, but it was still a far cry from last season’s efforts, with Mohamed Salah summing it up nicely afterwards.“I can see the spirit. Keep fighting until the end,” Salah told TNT Sports. “We played this game, we played the previous game and the game before that.
The positive thing we can take from this is. Of course we have a new team. Initially there will be 6-7 new players. All we have to do is give them advice.“They’re learning a lot and they’re really good kids. There are similarities to 2019, but obviously other players have done more and we have to give them credit. “But I’m confident we can do something special this year.”Comparisons to 2019 may seem a little premature at this stage, but there are clear parallels to that winning season. A late win against Aston Villa, a comeback against Tottenham, a win against 10-man Brighton and not forgetting another 2-1 win against Palace.
Certainly things were different when Liverpool won the title with 26 wins from 27 games, but the attitude remains the same. The monsters in Klopp’s mentality are back.
Even by recent standards, the Reds consistently dominated their old rivals, but a 7-0 win exceeded the fans’ dreams.
