Pep Lijnders explains ‘big difference’ Liverpool now has even minus Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah

With Liverpool struggling to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations and Mohamed Salah’s absence through injury, assistant manager Pep Lijnders dismissed fears that the club’s successful season could be in jeopardy. Jurgen Klopp’s side have undergone significant changes, with Sadio Mane leaving for Bayern Munich in 2022 and Roberto Firmino joining Al Ahly on a free transfer last summer.

However, Lijnders believes the change has benefited the Reds. Salah, Mane and Firmino have been key to Liverpool’s past success, forming one of the most potent attacking trios in Premier League history. But Liverpool will be without this power-winner this winter as major AFCON and Klopp transfers create a new front. Salah’s absence is expected to last another month, but Liverpool have shown their resilience with eight goals in those games and wins over Arsenal, Fulham and AFC Bournemouth.

Ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Fulham at Craven Cottage, Lijnders praised Liverpool’s current attacking options. He said the departures of Mane and Firmino had introduced an element of unpredictability into Klopp’s attacking strategy, which he saw as a positive development.’”Obviously Mo is the face of the team, but we never had any doubt [that we wouldn’t fight without him],” Linders said. “If we have these five players (Salah, Darwin Nunes, Diogo Lotta, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz), we can always bring two players with a lot of quality up front.

“Sometimes I don’t feel like taking Mo, Sadio and Bobby with me because it’s too hard to change them. I think it’s very easy to switch now and be unpredictable, especially from 60 minutes on. This is because, for example, you can go with Mo and Darwin or Jota and Cody and play a new player when the two strikers are close to each other. outside. We can be a lot more aggressive and that makes a big difference. “This team has a lot of weapons.”Despite Salah’s absence, Klopp has the attacking depth to lead any team to victory, demonstrating Liverpool’s resilience and adaptability to change. It will be another big test today against Fulham.
