Phil Foden is hopeful Manchester City will “be ready” for Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Liverpool when the two sides face off in a huge title decider.

City head into this weekend’s clash at Anfield on the back of a derby win at Manchester United’s expense, ensuring they remain only one point behind the Reds in the table.

Foden was the star man for Pep Guardiola’s side at the weekend, scoring twice as the Sky Blues came from one goal down to claim a 3-1 win on home soil.

Liverpool are the next team the reigning champions must attempt to find a way past, though history suggests this won’t be a straightforward task. City have won just two of their previous 32 matches at Anfield, a poor record Foden is all too aware needs changing.

“It’s massive,” he told Premier League Productions of Sunday’s top-of-the-table meeting. “It’s a stadium we never seem to win a lot at, so it’s going to be a challenge. It’s the game you want to play in as players, the biggest occasions. Hopefully, we will be ready for it.”
