Fulham are in the early stages of a bid to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre and hope there are no late setbacks to the deal.
Fabrizio Romano has previously expressed his admiration for Liverpool’s talented young Brazilian, but it now looks like the Reds will miss out on a potential signing for one of their Premier League rivals.
According to Team Talk, Fulham are currently making good progress in their efforts to bring Andre to Craven Cottage, and with Joao Palhinha’s future still looking uncertain, signing him could go a long way.
Palhinha has been Bayern’s main target this summer and they are expected to try again for the Portugal international, while Andre could be perfect as a long-term replacement.
But it could be a blow for Liverpool, who lost a number of midfielders last summer, with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson moving to Saudi Arabia and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita leaving on free transfers.
LFC have responded by signing Alexis McAllister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominic Szoboslai and Wataru Endo, so even if Andre impresses, they may not need another signing on this side of the pitch.
