Andre, 22, has been a target for Liverpool since last summer. At the time, Liverpool were being scouted by Fluminense for the midfielder.
The Reds saw the Brazilian as a potential long-term solution to their top-six spot, but Fluminense have refused to sell until the end of this winter season. The Rio club have since reached the final of the Copa Libertadores (South America’s equivalent of the Champions League) and will face Boca Juniors on November 4 for a shot at a first continental title.
According to Football Transfers, several Premier League clubs are “sending their top scouts” to watch the show at the Maracana, while other talented players “such as Valentin Barco, John Kennedy, Ezequiel Fernandes and Alexander” are also being watched.
Arsenal, West Ham and Fulham have all shown interest in André in recent weeks and months, but the report does not name any specific clubs to be scouting.
However, Anfield Watch understands the Reds, who have agreed personal terms, would prioritize a January move if they are interested. Liverpool had considered triggering André’s release clause to secure his contract as the midfielder’s rehabilitation progressed in the summer, but Fluminense’s desire to keep hold of their star player to give them a chance to win the Copa Libertadores did not respected.
As a result, the Brazilian club have a good relationship with Liverpool and are ready to give the Anfield club favorable terms and priority over other suitors in January. Liverpool scouts featured in Fluminense’s semi-final win over Internacional despite four midfielders arriving at Anfield in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Andre hopes to move to Liverpool when transfers open again in January.
