Premier League long-term injury XI as new name joins Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd stars

 

A number of Premier League clubs have suffered long-term injuries this season and their stars continue to decline as the season enters a busier period.

The Premier League is fast approaching the dreaded Christmas period.With so much to play for at both ends of the table, the next few months will be crucial to how the rest of the season plays out.

But managers will spend the next few weeks wondering how they can stay injury-free. A number of Premier League stars have struggled with a number of long-term problems in the opening months of the season.

There are actually enough injured players to make a team chain.Mirror Football have tried to gather the best XI from players who won’t be able to watch any time during the festive fixtures.

We start with Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope, the latest addition to the treatment programme. The former Burnley man picked up the injury in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Manchester United.

It has now been reported that he will be out for the next few months with a dislocated shoulder. Newcastle are looking for a potential replacement and have been linked with a move for David de Gea.

One of the Spaniard’s former team-mates plays a key role in the defence. Lisandro Martinez has signed an impressive deal since joining from Ajax but is not expected to return until mid-January due to a wrist injury.

He is supported in the center of defense by Spurs’ impressive Dutchman Mickey van der Ven. He arrived in north London from Wolfsburg in the summer but is expected to be out for at least next month.

His compatriot Jurien Timber also found himself in a much worse situation after joining the Premier League. He suffered a cruciate ligament injury after moving from Ajax to Arsenal, so is unlikely to feature again this season.

On the left is Liverpool star Andrew Robertson. The Scotland defender underwent shoulder surgery in October and was replaced by Kostas Tsimikas.

In midfield, Robertson’s current teammates have also suffered long-term injuries. Spanish playmaker Thiago Alcantara has not played since early October and will be sidelined until at least the new year.

Manchester United star Casemiro will support him. This season was difficult to model before the bottom of Brazil was taking numbers.

Otherwise, two of the two best manufacturers in the Premier League are still their return. England star James Maddison will be out for several weeks after injuring himself in Tottenham’s loss to Chelsea last month.

Kevin De Bruyne has made just one Premier League appearance this season after picking up an injury on the opening day of the season. Like many players in this list, they hope to return to action after the new year.

After visiting the attack, two talented attackers now spend time in the treatment room. Callum Wilson has proved to be an inspired signing for the Magpies and was in fine form this season before picking up a hamstring injury.

Ansu Fati has also impressed since joining the Premier League from Barcelona. He has already scored four goals in 14 games for Brighton but could be sidelined for three months and miss the Seagulls’ opener in defeat to Chelsea.
