Jarred Gillett has spent three years as a referee in the Premier League but the Australian has been banned from officiating Liverpool games for one reason only
Premier League referee Jarred Gillett is banned from Liverpool games – despite the official having already worked a game at Anfield.
The 37-year-old was an accomplished referee in the A-League for nine years before opting for England in 2019 to begin officiating in the EFL and the Premier League.
The Aussie, who was voted the A-League Referee of the Year five times, enjoyed a dream assignment at Anfield upon his arrival in England five years ago when he was the fourth official for a game where a Liverpool Legends side defeated an AC Milan Legends outfit 3-2.
Gillett – a Liverpool fan – no doubt lived a childhood dream that day as he watched former Reds skipper Steven Gerrard bag a late winner against the Italian giants.
Unfortunately for Gillett, that proved to be the last time he’d assume the role of an official in any capacity at Anfield due to his allegiance to the Merseyside club.
