Pundit believes English striker would have been sensational at Liverpool too

Alan Shearer on Harry Kane at Liverpool
Alan Shearer has now been discussing what may have happened if Harry Kane had joined Liverpool when leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

While speaking to The Rest is Football podcast, the record Premier League goal-scorer said that Kane isn’t finding it easy just because it is the Bundesliga.

The Englishman denied the criticism that Kane is scoring lots of goals because of the easier league.

Harry Kane has had a terrific start to his Bayern Munich campaign. He has 21 goals and 7 assists in 16 games for the German record champions.

But there has been a bit of criticism with respect to the difficulty of the German league.

Many have compared the English league and believe that it is the most competitive of the leagues in world football. Hence, the claim is that the German league is less competitive than the Premier League.

But Alan Shearer has denied the claims and says that he would have excelled with a different team in the PL.

Shearer believes Kane would have delivered even for Liverpool
Kane already has a remarkable goalscoring record for Bayern Munich, one that is improving by the game.

Meanwhile, Alan Shearer has stated that Kane would have been doing the same at Liverpool or Manchester City had he made the move up north from Tottenham.

“People are saying that suddenly his ratio has got better and people will say, yeah, the league is easier. I don’t think it’s that.

I think the fact is he is now playing in a team that is dominant so he is now doing the numbers he probably would have done if he was playing in a team like Man City or Liverpool.

What a player he is.”

Of course, the prospect of Kane in the mix of free-flowing Liverpool attack looks scary. There is no doubt that Darwin Nunez is still improving and will become a world-class striker for the Reds.

However, Kane- being the quality striker that he is, would have taken Klopp’s side to new heights.

Alan Shearer may be right in suggesting that Kane would have been on course for the Golden Boot at Liverpool.

But he never seemed interested in staying in the same league given the way he left Spurs. And hence, the situation that Shearer suggested would remain a hypothetical one.

However, Kane’s scoring in Germany should not be downplayed because of the league he is playing in. Rather, the English striker should be receiving the credit he absolutely deserves.
