Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino has spoken of Anfield’s strengths after leaving the club last summer.
It has been almost six months since Firmino last visited Liverpool’s famous home. The place is not the same without him.During his time at the club, it became clear that the Brazilian had developed a truly special relationship with the United fans on the pitch.
His time at the club was so special that Firmino has written a new book about his time at Liverpool. With the book out tomorrow, The Daily Mail has extracted an article that will have Reds fans rooting for Bobby today.
“There’s no place like home and Anfield will always be my home,” said the 32-year-old. “It’s the football ground and then Anfield. We have a lot of passionate, loyal and vocal fans. Where there is football, there is passion. But I can tell you that things are different at Anfield.
Firmino explains what his opponents said when they visited the famous old ground. “Listen to my Brazilian friends, my opponents from other clubs. They always tell me how difficult it is to play at Anfield!” he says.
“It’s hard for them. Please bless us. Success or failure, I always felt the love at Anfield. There was always a special place for me and they never wanted me to leave.”Bobby reminisces about his Anfield days.
Firmino is absolutely right. He will always be at Anfield. The nature of the game is for players to come and go for the sake of football fans. However, there are some that truly leave a lasting impression and feel almost like family to their entire fan base.
He may not be the most famous player of the Jurgen Klopp era. Others scored more goals, had more assists and were recognized with higher individual honors. But no one has ever appreciated the Kop more than Firmino and still does. If the Brazilian returns to Anfield – hopefully one day – he will be given a big welcome.
This club will never forget its heroes. Although he is now gone, Bobby’s achievements are legendary.
The Brazilian visitors at Anfield certainly had a difficult time. Liverpool have lost just one Premier League game in the last three and a half years. Not an easy place to visit!
