Ruben Amorim could bring multiple players from Sporting if hired by Liverpool

The young ace manager could try and poach his current club if he is appointed at LFC.

While nothing is certain as of now, Ruben Amorim remains the strong favorite to land the Liverpool managerial job this summer once the iconic Jurgen Klopp departs after nine successful seasons in England.

Amorim currently has his Sporting CP side sitting at the top of the Liga Portugal table by a comfortable 7 points, so a second league title under his charge looks likely.

As a result, there are numerous players throughout the squad that could be looking for a move to a bigger club in the summer if Amorim does in fact depart. One of those locations could very well be Liverpool if things worked out.

The talent that is in this current Sporting side is something to behold. Goncalo Inacio, the brilliant 22-year old central defender, has long been a target for Liverpool and he could very well follow Amorim.

His release clause of £51m is also reasonable, although Michael Edwards would absolutely try and negotiate the cost down even further.

Inacio would be a perfect option to drop in the rotation alongside Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah, especially when you consider Amorim likes to play with three center-backs in his ideal formation.

A second defender that could be targeted by an Amorim-led Liverpool would be the Ivory Coast international Ousmane Diomande, who has some outrageous physical tools to go with his growing skillset.

His release clause is higher at £68m, but he would be an investment for the now and the future as he could be a long-term project.

In terms of the attack, English winger Marcus Edwards and Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres could also be options.

Gyokeres has a ridiculous 36 goals and 16 assists this season in all competitions for Sporting CP so his finishing is something that Liverpool have been missing in recent weeks.

Edwards has pace and dribbling skills that remind some of Luis Diaz, while he could also be a cheaper option than any of the other mentioned names. Amorim is a player’s manager, not unlike Klopp, so the relationships he has built could be used to lure one or two from Portugal to England.

Current Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha played under Amorim previously at two different clubs and has faith he would be a strong hire;

“I believe he is a great option to replace Jurgen Klopp but we don’t know if that will happen. Either way, he’s going to make a huge step in his career at some point.”

He continued; “You cannot compare Sporting with a world-class side like Liverpool but there is also great pressure on a manager who is expected to fight for titles in Portugal and he’s used to dealing with that.”

If Liverpool does appoint Amorim, it could open the floodgates to a flurry of new transfer possibilities.
