Saudi fans turn on ex-Liverpool star Roberto Firmino amid miserable start to Al Ahli career


Starting with a hat-trick on his debut, things have gone downhill fast for Roberto Firmino in Saudi Arabia.

The Liverpool great was one of the biggest names to jump to the Saudi Pro League this summer, joining newly-promoted Al Ahli.

Leaving the Reds as a Premier League and Champions League-winning legend at the still ripe age of 31, plenty was expected from the forward.

However, since his three goals on debut against Al Hazem, Firmino hasn’t found the net in ten games.

Despite his lack of impact, Al Ahli won a huge Jeddah derby against Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad in their previous match, and last time out climbed to fourth in the league with a 3-1 win over Al Wehda.

Firmino managed an assist, only his second in the league, but has been the target of fans’ ire for his lack of output after coming in and taking the captain’s armband.
