Liverpool FC face a formidable setback as star forward Mohamed Salah is set to miss the upcoming Premier League clash against Luton Town and is now in doubt for the highly anticipated EFL Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The 31-year-old, who last started in Liverpool’s victory over Newcastle United on New Year’s Day, ventured to Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations but suffered a muscle injury, prompting an early return to Merseyside for rehabilitation.
Despite a few weeks of recovery, Salah made a surprising comeback during Liverpool’s recent 4-1 win against Brentford in the Premier League.
Coming in as a substitute after Diogo Jota’s unfortunate knee injury, Salah not only showcased his resilience but also made a substantial impact by scoring and providing an assist.
Salah Injury Deepens Liverpool Crisis
However, the joy was short-lived as Ahmed Shoubir, a presenter on Egyptian TV station OnTimeSports, dropped the bombshell that Salah experienced a recurrence of the same muscle injury during his cameo appearance against Brentford.
Shoubir added that Salah would not be fit for the next Premier League fixture against Luton Town on Wednesday night. Shoubir revealed,
“I have sad new, I learned that Salah suffered an injury at the end of the meeting between Liverpool and Brentford and renewed the injury suffered during the camp of the Egyptian national team.
Salah unfortunately will not be able to play the next Liverpool Premier League match against Luton Town. This is my information, and I hope that the news is not true, but it is largely true.”
Salah’s potential absence adds to Liverpool’s injury concerns, with players like Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Dominik Szoboszlai, Joel Matip, and Stefan Bajcetic already on the sidelines.
The injury crisis deepens as Curtis Jones [shin] and Darwin Nunez [unspecified] were also withdrawn during the Brentford match, further clouding the team’s immediate future.
As Jurgen Klopp’s side gears up for the EFL Cup final against Chelsea, the uncertainty surrounding Salah’s availability injects an element of drama into the already high-stakes encounter.
With the Reds aiming to secure their first silverware of the season, the absence of the prolific No.11 could pose a significant challenge for Liverpool.
As fans anxiously await updates on Salah’s condition, the team finds itself navigating through a critical juncture in the pursuit of success this season.
