Should Liverpool sign Kylian Mbappe?

It may seem like it will never end, but Kylian Mbappe’s transfer could soon be over. The Frenchman, who is still undecided about his future, is expected to decide on his next move in the coming weeks. According to reports, he has three options. It could be extending his contract with PSG, moving to Real Madrid or making a good impression on Liverpool.

Many fans have dreamed of Mbappé coming to Anfield, but the complexity of such a deal still makes it unlikely. But this is still a very remote possibility. But does it take guts to sign a World Cup-winning superstar from Liverpool, especially given the financial burden that comes with such a deal?

Here’s what the writers at Anfield Watch think about whether Liverpool should sign Kylian Mbappe. Sam Maguire: If you look at results alone, Mbappe’s move is a no-brainer. He is a scoring and passing machine. For example, he finished the 2021/22 season in Ligue 1 with 28 goals and 17 assists. But he plays for the most dominant team in a one-team league. Everything is geared towards him being the boss, so his presence is no surprise. There is no guarantee he will do the same in the Premier League. Will he have the same chance? Could he have made such a clean sweep down the final stretch? Can the rest of the team accommodate him? If not, how will you adapt? If you had to adjust this, would you be willing to pay a ridiculous amount of money?

In addition to team balance, team cohesion must also be considered. How would the rest of the team react if they brought in a ton of money and did the bare minimum? The most important thing for me would be the luggage. The relationship between Mbappe and Real Madrid has become strained. At some point, it ends here. Could you be affected by uncertainty every summer? You can’t make long-term plans if you don’t know if your star players will still be there. I’m not sure it makes sense for a club like Liverpool.

My younger self clearly hates me for wearing my rational hat now, but I can’t imagine a world where that would make sense. On the one hand, it seems like a no-brainer to sign the greatest footballer of his generation and one of only two people to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, but on the other hand he got a hat. -trick. … the truth. The cold, hard and boring truth. What is certain is that Mbappe is not in Liverpool’s price range. Previous reports have suggested that Real Madrid will offer him over £30m-a-year (excluding bonuses and signing-on fees), while other reports suggest his wage demands are even higher.

FSG cannot compete with what PSG and Real Madrid have to offer financially. Not even Mbappe’s mother’s love for Liverpool will change that. The club may earn £650,000 a week, but Mbappe’s arrival – and the circus that revolves around him – will disrupt Jurgen Klopp’s harmonious dressing room, where big egos and divas are conspicuous by their absence. The man is undoubtedly a phenomenal footballer, but Liverpool should continue to develop superstars rather than paying exorbitant amounts of money to acquire an established star and the baggage that comes with him.

Besides, who needs Mbappe when Mo Salah is like this?

I think the only time Liverpool would dream of signing Kylian Mbappe would be if Mohamed Salah leaves the club for a big fee this summer. However, there are still no signs that Salah will leave Liverpool. There is also speculation that the Egyptian could sign a new contract with the Reds. There is no room for Mbappe in this situation. Especially considering the huge salary he commands.I don’t think there is any reason in football not to bring Mbappe to Anfield. But Liverpool would have to risk their future to sign the forward and despite his unrivaled qualities, there is no point in putting too many eggs in one basket.

So did Jude Bellingham last summer. It is better to spread this money among the team than to invest it in one person. And if Klopp takes over, he could take £40m and turn it into £120m. He has done this many times in the past and it is a much smarter business model than signing Mbappe just to boost his ego.
