Luke Chambers admits he realised a dream by making his full Liverpool debut – and now wants to help the Reds win the Europa League.
Chambers was handed the first start of his Anfield career in the 5-1 home romp over Toulouse on Thursday evening. The 19-year-old left-back had been given a brief taste of senior action with Liverpool as late substitute in the League Cup win over Leicester City last month.
And he revealed the message he was given Jurgen Klopp as he prepared for a landmark moment in his fledgling career.
“He just said to enjoy it,” said Chambers. “He said there was no pressure, just go out and play how I usually play. “When did I find out I was playing? Yesterday in training. I went home and it didn’t really sink in at first, then this morning it kind of came to a bit of reality. It was good.
“I’ve dreamt of that moment since I was six years old. I’ve come through the ranks of the Academy, and as a boy growing up, going through the Academy, that’s your dream. It feels really good!
